Palm Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs)
In 1997, I purchased a PalmPilot and in 2000 I've switched to a Handspring Visor Deluxe. I've been enjoying the advantages of a Personal Digital Assistant ever since intergating a Palm handheld into my daily life. I use my Palm for tracking project time, to-do lists, my address book, reading text files among other things. At 3"x4.625"x.625" and weiging in at about 6 ounces , my Palm goes wherever I go. It's only takes a second or two to wake and runs 3 to 6 weeks on two AAA batteries (depending upon usage).

The slickest thing that the Palm organizers do is synchronize with your desktop computer. Using a special cradle, you can synchronize your schedule, contacts, to-dos and notes with your Mac or PC. This works well if you want to set up a schedule on your desktop and transfer it to the Palm; or to update your desktop with information entered in your Palm. This can all be done with a press of a button!

The Palm uses a simplified version of the alphabet called Grafitti which is very easy to learn. I picked up grafitti within a few minutes and had a good handle on the commonly used parts of the alphabet within a day.
