Glowing Morning Sky

As I walked toward the cafe this morning, I was welcomed by the most gorgeous glowing sky. At the horizon were a blaze of intense oranges and reds, above them, aqua and azure blended into deeper blues. Far to the south, the crescent moon was shrouded by a group soft pink clouds.
I stopped halfway through my walk to snap a photo with the Zire 72, attempting to capture the moment. Even with serious modification in Photoshop, the image above is a poor attempt to capture to the beautiful morning sky I experienced today.
Life is short, and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are traveling the dark way with us. — Amiel
That quote of the day seems to fit well with the image above. I'm reminded on days like these that even something as simple as a beautiful morning sky can alter my attitude for the better.
I am given the choice: to see a gorgeous sky and let the moment pass, or to embrace the moment and let it change myself and others around me.
What will you choose?

A few years ago I was walking across Parkers Piece in Cambridge with my eldest daughter, then about 8 years old. Parkers Piece is a large open, green area in the middle of Cambridge, and it was a beautiful Saturday morning. She looked up at the sky and said "look at those clouds Daddy, aren't they beautiful?". As we appreciated the moment together, she looked at the other people walking around us. "Why is no-one else looking at the clouds? Why is it only you and I?" I said, "Because all those other people have forgotten how to see the world the way you see it. Make sure that never happens to you." I'm glad to say she still hasn't.
Anyway, sugary-sweet sentiments aside, I honestly believe that if more people saw the world that way, it would be a happier place. So thanks for doing just that, and realising the value of sharing it with us.

I have tons of photos of different sky configurations myself. I regard the Sky as one of the most gorgeous miracles on Earth. But hey, here is a quote from the excellent Watchmen for you, Mike: "The world is so full of people, so crowded with miracles, that they become commonplace and we forget. I forget. We gaze continually at the world and it growls dull in our perceptions. Yet seen from another's vantage point, as if new, it may still take the breath away".

Neal & Carlos, thanks for the great commentary! I loved both of your stories and comments about seeing the beautiful around us. I especially like Carlos' quote from the Watchmen — so very true.
Too often I miss things, but I am making more of an effort to recognize them these days. Thanks for the encouragement!
